1765 Wilmington, DE Bancroft Woodcock Coin Silver Cream Jug
$9,500.00
Spectacular and rare cream pitcher by Delaware's most celebrated silversmith. Round foot sparingly decorated with the restraint typical of this Quaker smith. Two piece cast handle also typical of his pitchers of the era (see reference photos from Woodward). Condition is very good. Monogrammed in period script.
Probably owing to a misstrike on the curved bottom, this is marked with both the iconic B*W and the B WOODCOCK maker marks.
[Reference: Roland Woodward, "Bancroft Woodcock Silversmith" March 9, 1976 through April 15, 1976, The Historical Society of Delaware
