1763 David Hennell I London Large Sterling Silver Salt Cellar George III
$325.00
A very large 1763 David and Robert Hennell sterling silver master salt cellar made in London. The piece is weakly stamped with the maker, London (pre-1822 crowned leopard, Sterling, date stamp, and RH / DH mark). However, lovers of English silver will notice that there is no duty stamp since this was not introduced until later in the reign of King George III. Besides four elaborate and large scalloped hooves, the piece features gorgeous embellishments. Condition is serviceable, but not perfect (small holes, dings etc). David Hennell II joined in partnership with his father David Hennell I and registered a new conjoined mark (Robert Hennell I and David Hennell).
