1760-70 Edmund Milne of Philadelphia Toy Spoon Pair
$1,000.00
Exceedingly unusual and rare late 18th century American silver salt spoon or child's spoon pair by important Philadelphia maker Edmund Milne [Reference: Winterthur]. A survivor and indeed one of the rarest types of American spoons you might hope to find today. A handful of examples are known in a private London collection of English diminutive spoons. Condition is good with wear consistent with age. Hand forged, not cast. This upturned end spoon has a duck egg shaped bowl and a prominent spine down the handle. Well marked in rectangular cartouches as 'EM'. You'll never find another pair like these! Milne is known to have visited London and imported goods. Made camp cups for George Washington in 1777. Recovered from a collection of American silver in England.
