1757 George II - John Langlands I of Newcastle Large Water or Beer Jug with Arms of John Baskerville of Woolley

$8,000.00
This is an extraordinary and scarce George II Newcastle silver cup with the arms of John Baskerville, Esq of Woolley Grange (now a luxury hotel). The cup was produced by John Langlands I in the first year he was registered, so a very early work for him. At some time later, it was owned by Thomas Steele Nichols and is sold with his calling card contained in it as well as a lovely felt bag from Wyler of Manhattan, New York. Well decorated, it has a sparrow beak spout, a pedestal foot, and a lovely S-form hoof handle. Condition is extraordinarily good with a couple of small dings and the handle is pushed in a smidge (could be straightened easily enough). Marked well for Newcastle, Sterling, the IL mark for Langlands, and the letter mark S in shield for 1757. Monogrammed: G R to E W Dimensions: 6" tall foot to rim; 6.75" spout to handle. Weight: 497 grams Check out some of my other English sterling silver holloware here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=shop_sugg§ion_id=6409956 Or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP
