1753 George II - Elizabeth Oldfield Sterling Silver Soup Ladle with the Crest of John Bligh, 3rd Earl of Darnley (13.25")

$800.00
A very attractive George II 1753 scallop form ladle by an early female English silversmith, Elizabeth Oldfield (formerly Elizabeth Jackson) of London. Oldfield worked briefly as a silversmith on Paternoster Row during 1750-55. She would have been barrier breaking at the time, operating in an industry that was very heavily male-oriented. The piece is marked with the crest of John Bligh, 3rd Earl of Darnley (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bligh,_3rd_Earl_of_Darnley). Later initials were added to the bowl, likely in Ireland. [Old London Silver, Montague Howard, 1903] Length: 13.25" Weight: 164 grams Check out some of my other sterling silver flatware here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=shop_sugg§ion_id=7399760 Or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP
