1750 Silver Tablespoon by 'PN' (Pierre Naftel) of Guernsey, Channel Islands - Sterling Silver

$425.00
A scarce ca 1750 solid silver tablespoon by 'PN' (possibly clockmaker, Pierre Naftel) of Guernsey, Channel Islands. Channel Islands silver is very difficult to find, and only three tablespoons are known by Naftel. It is not known if this is one of the three or if it is a fourth example. This spoon, made by the French maker, Naftel was made with with a downturned terminal and bright cut engraving. Overall, the spoon is made with a very heavy gauge. It has been monogrammed 'TGB' in a period script and then later 'JCC' in block letters. This spoon has been repaired long ago. I believe the terminal of the spoon was separated and reattached. The repair was very well done. Tool marks are slightly evident, but utmost care was taken to preserve the monogram and to smooth it all out. Consider what a valued possession it was to have received such a repair as it was passed through the generations. Weight is 54 grams. Length is 9" Check out some of my other sterling silver flatware here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=search_shop_redirect§ion_id=7399760 Or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP
