A stout pre-revolutionary coin silver tablespoon by Boston maker, William Simpkins. Simpkins, who had eight children, was a direct descendant of the pilgrims. Simpkins worked out of a shop near the drawbridge. He was a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, joining in 1739. Mark on this is W. Simpkins in rectangular cartouche [Reference: Kane variant B]. Monogrammed 'E+B', owner unknown but possibly documented. Upturned terminal and a prominent central midrib spine. Nice elongated egg form bowl. Beautiful drop on this one. . Condition is very good.
