Pierre Amiraux of Jersey Channel Islands Silver Pint Cann
A silver cann by Pierre Amiraux, a highly important silversmith operating in Jersey, Channel Islands. This single-walled baluster form cup holds a pint (2 cups). With its slightly flared elegant rim, molded and stepped circular foot, this cann is a very good example of 18th century colonial silversmithing. The handle is a classic scrolled form with its daring twists and finger rests. Two flare adornments are noted. Marked PA twice in a rectangular cartouche at the bottom above and below the kernel. Condition is very good with slight fire scale evenly distributed across the surface. The cup cants ever so slightly toward the handle and it rests flat upon the foot. Condition is otherwise excellent.
