1740 large tablespoon by John Brevoort of New York City, NY. Plain design with upturned terminal and midrib spine hearkening to a more restrained age and made in a good heavy gauge of silver. Monogram 'B/IL' in period hand-engraved Dutch New York style script letters. Condition is very good. Nicely marked 'IBV' in an oval cartouche. This is an extremely good quality colonial New York silver spoon.
