1740 large tablespoon by John Brevoort of New York City, NY. Plain design with upturned terminal and very prominent midrib spine hearkening to a more restrained age and made in a good heavy gauge of silver. Terrific double drop. Monogram is a slightly rubbed 'H/HH'(?) in period hand-engraved Dutch New York style script letters. Condition is very good. Nicely marked 'IBV' in an oval cartouche slightly rubbed to left hand side, but a great mark. This is an extremely good quality colonial New York silver spoon.
