A pre-revolution colonial coin silver tablespoon by legendary Boston maker, William Homes, who was apprenticed to Rufus Greene. Mark on this is a crisp W Homes in rectangular cartouche [Reference: Kane variant B]. Homes joined the Artillery Company in 1747, and was promoted over time from First Sergeant in 1752 through Captain in 1765. He was an active Son of Liberty. Extremely scarce and sought maker. His mother was Benjamin Franklin's sister, Mary Franklin. Nine other tablespoons are known to exist by Homes. Condition is very good.
