1739-58 English Sterling Silver Sugar Tea Tongs by 'RG' of London
$225.00
A lovely ca 1750 pair of scissor form sugar tongs by unidentified, but known maker, 'RG' in the popular ornate style that peaked in the 1760-70 decade in England. This 'RG' is Grimwade’s mark number 3769 in his “Unregistered Marks” section. This section includes marks which are not necessarily “unregistered”, but which were most likely included in one of the lost / missing registers of Smallworkers (1739-1758). A beautiful pair in outstanding condition! Marked at the insides of the scallop with the RG mark and the lion passant. Scallop form. 24 grams, 4.25". A joy to hold and use.
