1739-1755 George II English Pistol Grip Sterling Silver Knife Set of Eleven (11)
$1,600.00
1739-1755 George II English pistol grip sterling silver knife set, recovered from a PA estate. According to the seller, these knives were in a cupboard drawer unused since purchase around 1965. What American colonist was dining with these? Blades are steel and highly magnetic. Marked with a very rubbed maker mark-- possibly AB (ABD for Aberdeen maybe?) and with English lions passant whose cartouche shape dates them to 1739-55. Pistol handled and with gorgeous armorials consisting of a Dexter Cubit Arm Vested, Cuffed, Grasping In The Hand Ppr. A Fleur de lis.
The knives are 10.25"+
Condition is very good as shown. One with a well-matched 19th century blade replacement. Marks are weak and rubbed.
