A scarce 1735-60 solid silver teaspoon made by Joseph Richardson, Sr. of Philadelphia. This spoon has all the classic characteristics, and is clearly marked with Richardon's 'IR' in an oval cartouche [Reference: Winterthur]. A nice heavy gauge spoon. Upturned terminal with a spine down the stem. Interesting double-drop at the bowl. Worn picture back. Worn monogram on the reverse with a visible 'F'. Condition is very good with slight bowl wear. A scarce and exceedingly rare form. Richardson's work is collected by many major museums including: Yale, Winterthur, Clark Museum, Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
