1735-50 William Homes of Boston Tablespoon (66 grams)

A heavy gauge pre-revolution colonial coin silver tablespoon by legendary Boston maker, William Homes, who was apprenticed to Rufus Greene. Mark on this is a rubbed but legible 'W HOMES' in rectangular cartouche [Reference: Kane]. Homes joined the Artillery Company in 1747, and was promoted over time from First Sergeant in 1752 through Captain in 1765. He was an active Son of Liberty. Extremely scarce and sought maker. His mother was Benjamin Franklin's sister, Mary Franklin. Homes had as many as fifteen children and lost many of them in infancy. There are nine other tablespoons known by Homes.
Condition is outstanding with slight surface wear and some light scratches. Personalized with D/S*S
