1730 Johan Hysing of Bergen, Norway Sterling Silver Dognose Flame Back Tablespoon
$200.00
This is an outstanding dognose silver tablespoon with flame back that I believe was made in Norway. Made in an old-fashioned pattern with resplendent hand etched chasing of flames or flora on the obverse of bowl. A very light and faded monogram and date can barely be read in a period cursive script on the reverse of the terminal. Really a very special, rare and unique piece. Wear is commensurate with age and use as shown but the condition is exceedingly good and they does not appear over polished as some examples are. Overall, the spoon has a stout and impressive profile and classic proportions. Gauge is medium, slightly on the light side. Maker mark is strong and is 'IH'.
Length: About 7.5+" in length
37 grams.
