1720-40 shellback teaspoon by Jean Hastier of New York City, NY. Plain design with upturned scallop terminal made in a good medium gauge of silver. Monogram 'I*T' in period hand-engraved Roman letters. Condition is very good. Nicely marked 'IH' in heart cartouche. Collected by Winterthur, The Met, Yale, and others. He was among the prominent New York silversmiths who were Huguenots like Le Roux, Goelet, Pelletreau, Moulinar, and Huertin. Condition is very good for age with a few dings on the handle.
