1650-80 Renaissance Dutch Silver Personal Knife Figural 17th Century
$1,600.00
A scarce 17th century Dutch personal knife made with a sculptural solid silver handle with four nude figures holding one another up or perhaps climbing one on top of the other. There is no maker mark, but there is a later Dutch tax stamp, probably applied when the item was assayed. Condition is very good with a lot of honest wear and spectacular patina on the bowl and terminal: a historically intact surface as it has been hand polished with the greatest of care. A well fixed steel blade set into the handle with its octagonal bolster. A scarce and exceedingly rare form apparently. A nice heavy gauge.
Length: 5.5"
