1600 Silver Jarro de Pico Made in Toledo

Offered here is an early 17th century jarro de pico assayed in Toledo, Spain and well marked inside the rim of the foot (Ref: Tardy]. This piece is typical of the type with the face at the spout and the applied decorations. This piece was deaccessioned by the Virginia Historical Society. It was given to them by His Excellency Alexander Weddell (see photo, not included with sale). He was the President of The Virginia Historical Society. Prior to that, he was the United States Ambassador to Spain. Presumably the pitcher was added to his collection while in Spain (1939-1942).

Condition is good with some possible repairs etc.. Hey, it survived a lot of celebrations to get to you.
